About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

At Pressure For Change, we believe business can be a force for good.

We’re proud to be a small, locally owned company crafting delicious apple juice jellies, and cranberry juice — but even more proud of how we do it. Every product we create in our kitchens reflects deeper commitment: to fairness, environmental sustainability, and community.

We operate on a living wage model, ensuring that everyone involved in bringing our products to your table earns a fair, dignified income — because we believe no one should have to work two or three jobs just to get by.

In a world where the cost of living keeps rising but wages often lag behind, we’re standing up to show there’s a better way.

We would love to connect with organizations who share our vision for good food, strong communities, and a better future.

Our Story

Pressure For Change - Shelf Stable Foods Inc. was founded by an individual with a background in Psychology and Biology, and extensive experience in many areas such as: administration, operations, and community engagement.

Before starting the business, the founder served as an Administrator for 12 residential portfolios, overseeing administrative operations for more than 20 buildings across those portfolios. This experience shaped a strong commitment to building businesses that prioritize people, fairness, and sustainability.

Personal Motivation:

The journey toward founding Pressure For Change was driven by the belief that businesses can and should be a force for good. Recognizing the challenges of economic inequality and food insecurity, the founder committed to creating a business model focused on living wages, community support, and sustainable local food production.

Business Origin:

Pressure For Change was created to meet two urgent needs:

  1. The need for ethical employment where every worker earns a living wage.

  2. The need for affordable, shelf-stable, healthy foods in Indigenous and rural communities, particularly throughout Nova Scotia.

Drawing from a passion for sustainability, local sourcing, and community well-being, Pressure For Change produces shelf-stable foods like apple juice, jellies, and cranberry juice.

The business emphasizes low-waste production methods and local ingredient sourcing, while building partnerships to support food security initiatives for Indigenous communities.

Core Business Values:

Living Wage Commitment: Every employee earns the same hourly wage, starting at the current Nova Scotia living wage, with adjustments made as needed.

Sustainability: Production practices focus on minimizing waste by transforming leftover ingredients, such as using juice-making byproducts to create additional products like cranberry sauce.

Local Ingredients: Wherever possible, ingredients are sourced from "Nova Scotia" a.ka. Mi’kmaq territory.

Community Impact: Programs such as a “Feed a Family Box” along with direct delivery initiatives will help bring affordable, shelf-stable foods to Indigenous and surrounding communities.
